CITY BREAKS - Zadar
The city of Zadar is situated in the heart of the Adriatic, and it is not just an urban centre of northern Dalmatia but a city of exceptional 3000-years old history and extremely valuable cultural heritage. Zadar will always offer something new and original.
Zadar takes pride in its old monumental 9th century St Donatus church as well as its modern monuments like the musical Sea Organs & the show of light called Greeting to the Sun. This lovely coastal town abounding in history and fascinating architecture makes an ideal base for the exploration of two nearby National Parks Kornati archipelago and Krka. This walled peninsula-town contains Roman ruins from its days as a Roman colony, the Byzantine-style St Donat churchand 16th-century walls built by the Venetians after they finally subjugated the rebellious city.
Discover Zadar and you will have a feeling like you peeling back layers of time.
Programme proposal:
Day 1 Zadar – Arrival
Upon arrival at Zadar or Split airport you will be transferred to hotel, overnight in Zadar.
Day 2 City tour of Zadar
Breakfast at hotel, meet your guide at lobby of the hotel and begin the sightseeing of Zadar.
Day 3 Plitvice National Park
Breakfast at hotel. Morning ride toward national park of Plitvice (app. 3 hrs). Upon arrival sightseeing tour of the 16 crystal-blue lakes connected by 92 waterfalls. The majestic and pristine waters have attracted visitors for centuries. Here you can explore the national park where every turn brings you to cascading waterfalls and spectacular scenery. Walk on the wooden promenades to view majestic and pristine waters where every turn leads you to breathtaking scenery and yet another waterfall.
After the breath-taking tour of Plitvice Lake, we recommend lunch at Licka kuca, a typical restaurant with specialties cooked under iron bell and covered with hot coals. Here you can try meat prepared on traditional way and great Lika's cheese. You will spend great time in wonderful ambient, after long day enjoying in Plitvice National Park. In the afternoon drive back to Zadar.
Day 4 Zadar - Departure
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Zadar of Split airport.
Zadar city tour includes:• Arrival and departure transfers from/to airport/hotel
• Accommodation at hotel as per your request
• Local guide for the sightseeing of Zadar including the entrance fees.
• Full day tour to NP Plitvice Lakes with driver and guide throughout
• Entrance fees to NP Plitvice Lakes
