On the south east part of Europe, on the west part of the Balkan Peninsula is located the heart-shaped country- Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnia and Herzegovina borders with Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. The same name Bosnia and Herzegovina leads to a conclusion that is about two different names that we are talking about. The names indicate historic and age different development regions. The rich history of the territory, that the occupies nowadays, gives us the confirmation that during the centuries the state changed its territory shape and was under the government of various empires (Byzantine, Roman, Turkish and Austrian- Hungarian), till it became one of the socialist republic of the former Yugoslavia. After a terrible, 4 year lasting war that resulted in a break-up of the former Yugoslavia, the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1995 was finally recognised as an independent country, even if it declaimed it in April 5 1992.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a beautiful country that offers lots of breathless landscapes and has a rich historic cultural tradition that is visible on every step, while the kind people will host you as a member of their family.
SARAJEVO

Sarajevo is the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the administrative, cultural, and educational centre. Sarajevo has a long history and tradition in the co-existence of many different people, religions and cultures, with many spiritual and cultural objects. Freely, we can call Sarajevo the "Jerusalem"of Europe. In the heart of the old city, at a distance of 500m, you will find a place of worship for each of the four monotheistic religions; the Gazi-Husrev-begova mosque, the Cathedral, the Orthodox Church, and the Jewish synagogue. Sarajevo is a city with a panoramic past which blends with a modern urban lifestyle. Throughout centuries the building and development of the culture of living and creativity make the city what it is today. It is a city of love and youth, tolerance, artistry, sports, Olympic peace, a city which incorporates the tastes and needs of every person.
MOSTAR
Mostar is a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the center of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation. The unofficial capital of Herzegovina, Mostar is situated on the Neretva River and is the fourth-largest city in the country. Mostar was named after its Old Bridge (Stari most) and the towers on its sides, "the bridge keepers" (natively: mostari). Founded in the late 15th century, Mostar was the chief administrative city for the Ottoman Empire in the Herzegovina region. The Austro-Hungarian Empire absorbed Mostar in 1878 and then it became part of Yugoslavia in the aftermath of World War I. Since 1881 Mostar has been the seat of the Bishopric of Mostar-Duvno. After World War II, Mostar developed a production of tobacco, bauxite, wine and aluminum products. MEĐUGORJE
Near the town of Citluk it’s situated one of the most known sanctuary in the world-Medugorje. The parish of Međugorje is composed by the villages Medugorje, Bijakovici, Vionica, Miletina and Sumarci and it was established in 1892. Međugorje owns its popularity to the appearance of the Virgin Mary, who started to appear to a local group of kids the 24 June 1981. The kids were scared at first and run away, but the curiosity of the kids was stronger than the fear and the next day, on the same hour, they went to the place of the appearance where the Virgin show herself again and invited them to pray with her. That day, the 25 June, is celebrated as an anniversary of the Peace Quenn as the Virgin Mary introduced herself to the kids that day. The appearances were frequent in the beginning, and with every new appearance, as the witnesses said; she brought messages of peace, love and faith. For their testifying the witnesses and their families and relatives, along with few local priests, were prosecuted. The kids were brought in the police station on hearings and submitted on psychological exams, but it was found that they were perfectly healthy and that there was no evidence that they had lied about what happened in Međugorje. As time passed by the appearances were decreasing, the kids had grown up, but to some of them the Virgin Mary appears even today from time to time.Međugorje is visited by million of pilgrims every year who come here from all around the world to find their inner peace, the consolation and the strength to cope with their daily problems trough praying and fasting.
The most significant places of praying in Međugorje are Krizevac hill, the appearance hill (Podbrdo) and the church of St.Jacob apostle-the guardian of the pilgrims.
Although the Vatican has not recognized this place as a sanctuary because of some controversy related with to the authenticity of the appearances, some strange facts are still happening and some of the witnesses still have appearances of Virgin Mary.
Beside Lourdes and Fatima, Međugorje is one of the most known sanctuaries in the World in which many pilgrims had found their lost faith, peace, humility and bound with God.
