, the capital of Croatia, situated on the slopes of Medvednica Mountain (Zagrebacka Gora) and along the banks of the Sava River. The favorable geographic position in the south-western part of the Pannonian Basin which extends to the Alpine, Dinaric, Adriatic and Pannonia regions, provides the best valuation of traffic connection. between Central Europe and the Adriatic Sea. Gornji Grad is a more recent name for the mediaeval town which was chartered in 1242 (by the so-called Golden Bull) and thus obtained the status of "the free royal town on Gradec Hill of Zagreb". It lies on a slope between the walls constructed around the mid-13th century. The town used to have four gates. The Stone Gate (Kamenita Vrata), the only preserved city gate, represents the entrance to the Upper Town. It was first mentioned in the Middle Ages, and its present aspect dates from 1760, when the Baroque chapel of the Mother of God was constructed around the old painting by a local master…

ZAGREB SURROUNDING – VARAŽDIN & CASTLES

TRAKOŠĆAN CASTLE is an important tourist resort in the immediate vicinity of the international highway Zagreb - Maribor and the state border with the Republic of Slovenia. Famous for the beautiful castle of the Draskovic family and the artificial lake, it represents an unavoidable destination of numerous visitors to the region of Hrvatsko Zagorje. Trakoscan Lake was created in the mid-19th century by construction of the dam and separation from the springs of the Bednja River. It has a length of around 1.5 km and the depth reaches around 2.5 m. In the summer, the water is warm enough for swimming but freezes in the winter, offering ice-skating opportunities. The whole belt around the lake with the park-forest is protected as an important landscape… TABOR CASTLE - Veliki Tabor, a fortified castle located on a beautiful hill near the locality of Desinića, dominating the southwestern most part of Hrvatsko Zagorje, counts among historical monuments of utmost category according to UNESCO classification. There is a theory that the Castle stands on top of an island of what was once the Panonian Sea. Another theory suggests that where the Castle stands today there was a Roman fortress in the 2nd century.

NATIONAL PARK: PLITVICE LAKES
plitvicePLITVICE LAKES are the most known Croatian national park and are entered in the UNESCO Register of World Natural Heritage. Sixteen little lakes interconnected with waterfalls created by deposition of travertine, a special kind of limestone, constitute the main attraction of this unique park. The park includes the spring of the Korana River in the area surrounded by dense forests of beech, fir and spruce, partly in the form of primeval virgin forest. Apart from the lakes and forests, the Park is ornamented with several caves, springs, flower meadows, and is inhabited by brown bear, among other animal species. The popularity of this park is also in the use of special vehicle for transporting visitors (panoramic trains and electric boats), and is  conveniently situated at the main road from Zagreb to Dalmatia...
OPATIJA

Porec is a tourist centre famous for its beautiful natural landscape, long tradition in tourism and several well-equipped tourist resorts. In 1844 the steamers society, the Austrian Lloyd from Trieste, opened a tourist line which included Porec, and already in 1845 the first tourist guide of Porec was printed.  The most important master piece is famous St. Euphrasy’s' Basilica (early Christian architecture, form 6th century, protected by UNESCO since 1997.)
ZADAR 
zadarZADAR gained its urban structure as early as Roman times; in the time of Caesar the town was fortified, while in the time of Emperor Augustus, the town walls with towers and numerous gates were built on the side facing the land. On the western side of the town were the forum, the basilica and the temple with a cloister (the remains of it have been preserved), while outside the town were the amphitheatre and cemeteries…
KRKA WATERFALLS
krkaKRKA, a river in Dalmatia; springs out at the western foot of Dinara Mountain and flows into the sea near Sibenik; length 72.5 km. In the parts of the course where the Krka flows through marl soils, certain extensions are created (Arandelovac, etc.). In limestone it forms a narrow and deep canyon (up to 200 m), flowing over travertine barriers and creating waterfalls. In the upper course are two 10-m high waterfalls. At the entrance of the Krka into the Knin field is a waterfall called Veliki Buk (20 m). In the lower part of the course are the waterfalls: Bilusic (19.6 m), Prijen (15 m), Manojlovac (three waterfalls; 84.5 m), Roski Slap (25.5 m) and Skradinski Buk (37.5 m), the most beautiful of all. Between Roski Slap and Skradinski Buk is Visovac Lake (13 km long) with an islet Visovac.
SPLIT
splitSPLIT, the second largest city in Croatia and “the capital of Dalmatia” had gradually developed around the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian, built more than 1700 years ago. TROGIR
trogirTROGIR was founded by Greek colonists from the Island of Vis in the 3rd century BC. On this Antique matrix lies the historical core of Trogir, which is the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic complex not only in the Adriatic but in all of Central Europe. Trogir's medieval core, surrounded by walls, comprises a preserved castle and tower and a series of dwellings and palaces from the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

 

Trogir's grandest building is the church of St. Lawrence, whose main west portal is a masterpiece by Radovan, and the most significant work of the Romanesque-Gothic style in the country…On the way back to Split you should visit the Salona.
SALONA - The ruins of the ancient Salona, capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, lie six kilometres north of Split in what is today the town of Solin. Favourable geographic position in the central part of the eastern coast of the Adriatic at the bottom of the well-sheltered Kastelanski Bay, along the delta of the Salon river (today the river Jadro), as well as good road links to the hinterland all contributed to the quick and unhindered development of the town. ......
TRSTENO & STON
trstenoSTON is a small town in Dubrovnik – Neretva County, located at the south isthmus of the peninsula of Pelješac. Ston was a military fort of the Ragusan Republic whose defensive walls are notable feat of medieval architecture: there is an 890 meters long town wall and 5 km Great Wall outside the town, which is second in length on the planet.  The walls extend to Mali Ston, a smaller town on the northern side of the Pelješac isthmus.  Ston is well known for its mar culture, and its salt works which were highly coveted by both the Republic of Dubrovnik and the Ottoman Empire.
Mali Ston, small place just a kilometer away from Ston is oyster capital of Croatia. You have opportunity to see how the oysters are cultivated, how they are “picked” and taste them from the sea directly….
PENINSULA PELJEŠAC (OLIVES, WINE, GASTRO TOURS)
peljesacPELJEŠAC is situated in southern Dalmatia between Neretva bay in the north and Mali Ston bay eastward (between which is so called Little Sea). Mljet channel is south of Pelješac, and Pelješac channel on the western side. Through history it was called The Point of Ston (lat. Puncta Stagni, tal. Ponta di Stagno).
The modern name Pelješac is new, after a same named hill above Orebić. It is the second largest Peninsula in the Adriatic after the peninsula of Istria.

Pelješac peninsula is very convenient for the tours that will satisfy all types of tourists. DUBROVNIK
